Neuschwanstein Castle Germany - Road Trip Destination

Romantic Road - Germany

The 350 kilometers (220 miles) route between Fussen and Wurzburg in Bavaria, Germany, connects a number of picturesque towns and fairytale castles. As a marketing gimmick post World War 2, Bavaria named this old trade route the Romantic Road to boost the tourism and they nailed it.

Rent a car for this drive and shoot for traveling in late September or early October so you can attend Oktoberfest in Munich along the way. Start from Fussen with the fairytale Neuschwanstein Castle and travel north to Wurzburg. Other recommended pitstops are the walled towns of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Dinkelsbuehl and Noerdlingen. Truly magical stuff.
